Work that Matters

Each of the projects I am currently working on reflects a commitment to purpose-driven work that blends leadership, creativity, and partnership to make a measurable difference.

These are collaborations in the truest sense of the word – where I work together with communities, support the growth of leaders, and we create lasting impact.

Let’s make it happen, y’all.

CURRENT PROJECTS

The Civic Futures Lab

As the Program Lead of this multi-year partnership between Design for America and Macaulay Honors College and Watson Foundation, The Civic Futures Lab prepares student leaders to become the next generation of social innovation leaders in New York City.

This groundbreaking initiative supports cohorts of students in developing human-centered design, project building, and community leadership skills across disciplines and issue areas. The Lab culminates in innovative, prototyped solutions that can impact  civic and institutional challenges long-term.

In its first year, The Civic Futures Lab is composed of thirty student leaders that represent the eight CUNY campuses. Ultimately, the goal of the program is to not only integrate across all of the campuses to engage more students in civic leadership in NYC, but to transform the work of honors colleges and similar institutions across the country.

Leadership Pipelines & Student-Driven Storytelling at HSC

During my time as a Dream Director at High School in the Community, we created systems of student engagement and leadership that transformed the school: doubling graduation rate, increasing student enrollment by twenty-five percent, and connected the majority of students to leadership and career opportunities outside of school.

The real work began once I was no longer the school’s Dream Director and began collaborating with the leadership team of the school to ensure these systems were sustainable and interwoven in the academic and cultural the fabric of the school.

Through our four years of partnership, students  now have the opportunity to gain credit for their leadership work within the school, peer-to-peer mentorship exists throughout the community, and student leaders shape the story of HSC for the broader community through developing social media and promotional content.

Bringing The Future Project to Barbuda

For two years, I’ve worked with a team of community leaders to bring the work of the Dream Director and The Dream Team to the only secondary school in Barbuda. From filling necessary instructional gaps in the academic experience during the school day, to providing career exposure opportunities on the local and international level, to co-creating student extra-curricular and leadership systems with students, parents and educators, we have built the foundation for transformation for the school and for a generation of young people.

For the four person team leading this work on the ground, I’ve offered on-going leadership and training support to ensure all coaching, student enrichment, and projects are intentional in their short-term outcomes and long-term impact.

Men Up

The next chapter

It began with a simple question: how do we support each other in becoming the men we want to be? What started as accountability between friends—The Reverend George Black and Christian Shaboo—revealed a broader need. Many men were struggling to define manhood in healthy, honest, and life-giving ways.

Men Up was born from that realization. Over the past decade, it has grown into a national effort to reimagine manhood through community, storytelling, and practice, reaching thousands through events and media.

Now, Parables on Manhood Redefined brings this work together—exploring inherited narratives, unlearning, and growth—offering not a prescription, but an invitation to build a more connected, human way of being a man.

The Facilitator

Book forthcoming

For fifteen years, I’ve worked alongside young people in classrooms, on stages, and in communities nationwide and globally. My work centers on one question: what does it truly take to show up for young people in ways that change lives?

I’ve held many roles—coach, mentor, leader, artist, entrepreneur—but the one that unifies them is Facilitator: someone who creates conditions for growth, trust, and transformation. Through stories and conversations with former students now entering adulthood, this book will explore what truly matters most.

The Three Wisemen

In development

This two-act play was first produced as a staged reading with the New Haven Theater Company in 2020. Receiving positive reviews and support, we began seeking further production before the COVID pandemic shuttered theater doors. Now, years later, and with further perspective on the themes of delayed adolescence, masculinity, romantic uncertainty, and personal ghosts, I’m excited to begin the journey of bringing this play to life in NYC.
